The Creative Sobriety Method Pt. 3

THE PROCESS AND THE PRUNING
8

Welcome back to The Creative Sobriety Method. It’s time to start pruning and sifting the old life and start putting a process in place to support the new life.

This is not a prescription, set of rules, or proposed steps to follow-this is only a suggested path of thought. You are in control and you decide what serves your vision best.

You have illuminated the pain points in your life and decided to buy-in to the idea that removing alcohol from your lifestyle could be the move that opens up a more fulfilling life, a life free of some of that pain and struggle. Now, it’s time for action.

The thing that so many other paths to sobriety get wrong is removing a person’s free will, their autonomy and personal agency. The assumption that a person who is struggling with alcohol can’t be trusted to know how they are incentivized and motivated is flawed. We need permission to inject creativity and nuance into the equation. Creating new things breeds self-confidence. Someone believing in your ability to create a new thing breeds pride. That’s me. I believe in you.

Let’s weed the garden…

Have you identified your intrusive weeds? You may want to look back to your answers from The Illumination, many of the weeds will be found on your list of contributing factors/parties to your over-drinking. These are the energy suckers. The people, places, and activities that consistently leave you with less than you arrived with. Remember, this is not about them. This is not a judgement of anyone else’s lifestyle or choices—this is about you taking control of your life and getting real about where you want to be in the future.
